Jef refines materials for IRRI training courses, develops training manuals and E-course materials. He also manages training and extension oriented components of the Rice Knowledge Bank. He also assists IRRI resource persons with the pedagogical side of training.

He worked in Vietnam from 1997 to 2001 where he developed and implemented a language program in the International Schools of Hanoi.

Jef holds a bachelors degree in Education from the Catholic College of Leuven, Belgium and a Masters degree in Education Management from the University of the Philippines, Los Banos, The Philippines.

  
David Shires

David is helping IRRI Training Center define and implement a market-driven culture. He incorporates the knowledge he gained as Education and Marketing Consultant from his previous experiences in devising education and training strategies; planning and implementing training programs; and managing information technology and distance education services for IRRI training programs.

He was formerly connected with the University of South Australia and the South Australian Education and Training Department where he was the Principal of the Angle Park Computing Center.

He has an MS degree in Education from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and a diploma on Secondary Teaching.
