History

Stem rot was reported in Italy in 1876, in Japan in 1910, in India in 1913 and 1918, in Sri Lanka in 1920, in Vietnam and USA in 1921, and in the Philippines in 1924.

Distribution and Occurrence

It has also been reported in Bulgaria, Kenya, Madagascar, Guiana, and other countries where rice has been grown for many years.
