Safe AWD is a mature technology that has been widely adapted in China, and now being tested by farmers in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Bangladesh. As fresh water is becoming more scarce to sufficiently support the requirements for expansion of agricultural areas to increase food production and to satisfy the demand of the increasing population, we need to adapt water saving technologies such as safe AWD.
