Determining what the learner will do in the lesson
|
Writing a properly constructed learner objective is a complex task that is easily mastered once you know the secrets. Look at the objective at the top of this lesson. What are the verbs that describe what you will be able to do upon completion of this lesson? For hints, roll your mouse over the objective below: | ||

Writing learner objectives

The objective's actions (verbs) determine what the learner will do to successfully complete the lesson's requirements. In Module 2 - Analysis, Lesson 7, you discovered that these actions correspond to a learning classification system (Bloom's taxonomy) that ranges from the lowest to highest levels of learning. Using the Levels of Learning you determined for each content area
in the table you created for Module 2 - Analysis, Lesson 7, refer back
to the list
of verbs at each level of Bloom's taxonomy to select an appropriate
action to drive the content area. The diagram below shows the Content
and Levels of Learning columns from the course component table used to
develop Module 4 of this course. Roll your mouse over each of the rows
to view a corresponding objective. |

Imagine that you have the following anticipatory set, "What are the six physical characteristics of paddy rice that determine quality?" Which level of learning do you think this query most closely resembles? Type your answer in the space below and click Check it! to see if you are on the right track.
Now that you have targeted the level of learning, try writing the objective.
Consulting your list
of verbs from Bloom's taxonomy, type an appropriate action in the
space provided to complete the objective. Click Check it! to see if you
are on the right track.
